Russian Automotive Forum

Preparations for our March 2011 conference have not yet begun, in the meantime, below is an outline of the event that recently took place in Moscow.

Adam Smith Conferences would like to thank all the speakers, sponsors and delegates for their participation in the 13th annual international Russian Automotive Forum that took place on 16th - 18th March 2010 at the Grand Marriott Hotel in Moscow.  
Despite the difficult economic climate both internationally and in Russia, the event was a resounding success.  Here is a summary of the event highlights in brief:

1. More than 350 attendees took part in the Forum.

2. 50+ top level international and Russian speakers drawn from the leading OEMs and Components Suppliers outlined their strategies for the future, including notable presentations from Bo Inge Andersson, President, GAZ Group and Christian Esteve, Senior Vice-President, Renault, Leader of the Eurasia Region Management Committee, General Director, Avtoframos

3. The number of enquiries about the forum from new companies looking at the Russian market went up by 100%!

4. 50% of the speakers were NEW to the Forum this year, resulting in new ideas, topics and expertise. 

5. 5 OEM/SUPPLIER ROUNDTABLES offered optimum one-on-one networking opportunities – hosted by AvtoVAZ, Avtoframos/Renault in Russia, Volvo 3P Purchasing, Volkswagen and General Motors.

6. The new for 2010 GOVERNMENTAL SESSION included presentations by 4 of the most influential Government officials, including:

• Andrei Klepach, Deputy Minister, Ministry for Economic Development
• Alexey Rakhmanov, Director of Department of Automotive Production and Agricultural Engineering, Ministry of Industry and Trade
• Maxim Akimov, Vice-Governor, Kaluga region
• Nikolay Sataev, Industry and Innovation Minister, Nizhny Novgorod Regional Government

7. An exclusive MASTER-CLASS “Quality breakthrough is not a mirage” led by Pascal Felten, Director for Quality, AVTOVAZ, Vladimir Sundkvist, Director for Quality and Suppliers Development, AVTOVAZ and Vladimir Petrov, Director for Aftersales Servicing, AVTOVAZ. It was truly a unique chance to find out how the AVTOVAZ quality division has built a cross-company action plan for quality improvement.

8. 1 INDUSTRY LEADERS DEBATE “In conversation with Graeme Maxton” provided 45 minutes of brainstorming and exchanging views with OEMs top-executives. This session was, once again, voted the popular feature of our event!

9. In 2009 you asked for more of a focus on the problems encountered by components suppliers, so in 2010 we dedicated an entire day to the most pressing issues they face.  Not only did we hear from the major international players in the market, but this year, we brought together a panel of the top decision makers from the leading Russian players, including GAZ Group; "Zavod"Avtopribor"; Plastic; BelMag and many more.

10. Another new feature for 2010 was the introduction of our ECONOMISTS PANEL, which featured 4 global economists and strategists from the leading OEMs and top industry experts.

11. PLUS after the two main days, we ran a JOINT VENTURES FOCUS DAY, which served as a brief training course on how to enter and successfully work in the Russian market via the JV model. Speakers who shared their expertise on this included: SEVERSTALAUTO-ISUZU; RM-Systems; KAMAZ; CIE Automotive; Russian Paints Dupont; IVECO-AMT; Mercedes-Benz Trucks Vostok; Autocomponent Managing Company; Johnson Matthey; Delphi Russia and many more……

These figures demonstrate the fact that the crisis did not put a stop to the industry instead it has instigated a search for alternative approaches and solutions.

The overwhelming response by attendees was that attending the Russian Automotive Forum was one of the best business decisions they made this year! This leading event offered an excellent value proposition by providing access to the latest important market information and numerous key industry contacts all under one roof at one time.
